Friday 25th February all ready. Back to work now since Wednesday. I have had a couple of ships since then all in daylight hours and yesterday we were in blue sky and sunshine with a flat calm sea. if only every day could be like this…………….
We have had a busy week, Sim and Liz came up on Monday from Lincoln, and Adam arrived home from Newcastle on Sunday evening so we had a great family day culminating in a meal out at Grants Bistro in Beverley, next to Saint Marys. And it was a fantastic meal as ever, I can highly recommend it. Small, intimate with excellent food. The reason for the meal was a very late 21st celebration for Adam. It is the first time we have all been able to get together since Adams birthday a month ago. A nice lazy day on Tuesday followed. Adam and I spent the day watching all the cricket and playing pool. The pool score 14 games to 2. I will let you decide which way around the scores were.
Sue had a good link ladies on Tuesday evening, a night spent painting in watercolours.
It is now a year since God gave us this new idea for Brandesburton. It is hard to believe it is a year, the time has just flown by. February 25th 2010, I met Richard Bradbury for the first time here in Brandes and we learnt that the vision that God has given us for linking up with a bigger church, to get refreshed and to use them as a resource was the same vision that God had given to Beverley…link up with smaller churches throughout the area and help assist and resource…..God is so good!!!! We have achieved so much in the last 12 months and met so many people and been involved and part of such a lot of exciting events. We just need to keep focusing on God and Jesus, now, during this next 12 months and not forget all the good things He has done for us during this last 12 months. We must keep following our “pillar of cloud and pillar of fire” and being thankful each morning and evening for the” manna and quail” that God continuously provides for us…. We must never forget what God has done and is doing for us, and if we keep our eyes on Him at all times we cannot possibly forget. We must be earnest and diligent in bringing the good news of Jesus to people, not faltering but pressing forward, not growing weary but relying on the strength of the Lord. People need to know about the love of God now, not tomorrow or the next day but now. And it is up to us to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ into peoples lives.
There is all kinds of stuff going on in the world at the moment particularly in the middle east and the terrible earthquake in New Zealand…………Wars and rumours of war, famines and earthquakes these are all happening now but we must make sure that we are not deceived by any false teaching and keep our eyes fixed and focused on Jesus and Jesus alone and his love for each and everyone of us.
We had a great worship meeting on Wednesday with a brief interlude as Mike sorted out cramp in his foot. It was a bit surreal actually….Mike lying on the floor, Jayne massaging his foot, whilst discussing all the good things that God is doing and sorting out matters with regard to our link back to the 1940s!!
I managed to get a few sweet peas into pots yesterday afternoon. I used up all my potting compost, just enough to plant 1 packet of seeds. We haven’t grown sweet peas for a few years, so I am looking forward to the summer and the lovely colours and fragrances as they clamber up the front of my potting shed. We had a real glimpse of spring yesterday, in fact it was warm in my shed and v warm in the greenhouse……roll on April, we will soon be barbecuing again….. I managed to spray off a few weeds yesterday as well, prior to getting plants in. I am pleased to announce that all my garlic has 1 inch shoots, all except the elephant garlic which always appears a bit later on. The Rhubarb is doing well as well, hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks we might have our first few sticks…..I just love Rhubarb.Good news early in the week as well….the allotments are about to get water!!! We must be the only allotments in England that hasn’t got water. In the summer I end up taking about 20 gallons of water, each time I go. And water is v heavy. This will make such a difference to us and we should see an incredible difference in the results of our labours, and of course the sizes of our brassicas!!
Last night, I popped out to the Dacre for a couple of pints, and managed to discuss with Matt, our landlord, the possibility of having having a Comedians and Carols evening in the Dacre towards Christmas. Matt was enthusiastic so watch this space folks………………
Well I must start thinking about going to work I have a ship that requires piloting into Immingham dock. Bye for now……………………..Pat.
